Pony Play

~ Weekend / School Holiday Program ~

The school holiday / weekend program is a fun and engaging day for children from the ages of 7 and upwards.  Children spend time with the horse herd, brushing, caring, sharing space, leading and feeding.  Arriving for 10am with morning tea provided on arrival children then meet the ponies and learn a little about their communication and behaviours introducing them to the way of the horse.  Children develop a sensitivity to their body language, building an understanding of non-verbal communication in each other and themselves.

About this workshop

Children will be invited to choose some decorative kits and grooming buckets and are then paired with a suitable pony for connection and bonding to build, carefully applying their creative nature and being ‘at one’ with their horse.  Children will learn more about horse handling and leading a horse with consent, as well as understanding what the horse is saying, asking and sharing.

Full supervision is provided and parents are welcome to stay and watch the fun and activities or head off for some quiet time.  The day will finish at 3pm, with lunch included at 12.20pm.  Your investment is $130 per child.

The experience is safe and rewarding for everyone.  No prior experience with horses is required and all activities are on the ground.

See below for available dates and to book.  Limited to 12 children per program.

Working with horses teaches girls and boys compassion, empathy, self-discipline and understanding as they care for the horse and interact. Together, and through the interaction with the horses, they  build a connection, supporting each other through the activities.

Time with horses and time together in this open nature-based environment compliments the strength of relationships with ourselves and each other.

Wolverton is a special place, a healing place and a loving place. Somewhere where I can retreat and gain self confidence and self belief with the help of Emma and her family who make me feel extremely welcomed and part of their family while staying at the station.  We did various activities with the animals that helped me connect with myself and understand the relationships humans and animals can have together and the positive effect it has on my mental health.  Emma showed us what life is like on a station and how to maintain it as well as nurture and love our surroundings. Emma teaches us to become strong young woman who believe in their self worth and help us to grow into women that the world needs.”
